Independent Living

  • Homemaker Services - Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission provides homemaker services to eligible disabled adults who are functionally limited in meeting their own nutritional and environmental needs. Homemaking Services are defined as direct assistance with, meal preparation, grocery shopping, medication pickup, laundry and light housekeeping. To be eligible for these services, individuals must be between the ages of 18 and 59, must not be legally blind, and must live alone or with another adult with a disabling condition.   • Snow Shoveling - "The students at Marblehead Veterans Middle School as part of their community service goals would be glad to shovel snow for any disabled or elderly person in Marblehead. Over fifty students have signed up to do this. A person need only call the MVMS main number and they will match a student with the adult needing help."
